We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support and love you are giving to Toshko Glavanakov. Since the first initiative, he has continued to undergo very serious surgeries and procedures. After several changes in the diagnosis, he is now being treated for “Non-melanoma malignant neoplasms of the skin of the lower limb, including the hip area”—treatment available only in Turkey.

Life turns upside down in a moment when you hear the word “cancer,” especially when it’s of unknown origin. You’re ready to go through voluntary medical experiments with the hope for a positive outcome after the standard approach by Bulgarian doctors did not help. You’re in pain—unbearable pain—you’re scared, and after each unsuccessful attempt, despair starts to creep in. No medical team here can give guarantees, and there’s no clear treatment protocol because of the unknown nature of the tumor.

That’s when you take matters into your own hands and embark on the difficult path to a specialized clinic in Turkey, where they offer hope and quickly include you in their medical protocol. But hope comes at a cost—one that is unbearable for a single family. The funds needed for surgeries, therapies, tests, hospital stays, and follow-up treatment go far beyond what a family can afford. Turkish doctors are more confident, the approach is different—preparation for the first surgery, post-op recovery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy… countless kilometers between Sofia – Istanbul – Sofia, sleepless nights, rapid weight and immune system loss—but you go through it all… for your children, and your wife, who also serves as your caregiver.

The pain continues, and the finances are running out with each hospital day. The costs of treatment are enormous, and more infusions and a second surgery lie ahead.

This is Toshko’s story in short—one he feels uncomfortable telling himself. He’s used to helping others, not asking for help. But now, Toshko needs strong support. The doctors warn that treatment for oncological diseases can go on for years, and the expenses will only keep growing.
