Tosca is my dear friend and former co-worker, and she is facing one of the toughest battles of her life. Her breast cancer has spread to her lungs, liver, and spine. Despite this, Tosca continues to travel four hours each way—taking three buses and a train—to get to her job, just so she can keep her insurance. She has no support system and very limited resources, making every day a struggle.

What makes Tosca truly remarkable is her selflessness. For as long as I have known her, she has always put others first. She gave up her own social life and any chance at economic stability to care for her father through his cancer illness, and then again for her elderly mother during her extended critical illness until her passing. In doing so, Tosca had to neglect her own cancer follow-up because she couldn’t get a full-time job with insurance benefits. When she finally did, she learned that her cancer had metastasized considerably.

My hope is to raise enough to help Tosca with Uber rides to and from work, so she doesn’t have to endure exhausting commutes while fighting cancer. The funds will also help with mounting medical expenses. Any support you can give will help Tosca focus on healing and remind her that she is not alone.
