Support Torrance's Fight Against Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma
Donation protected
This Journey began in March 2024 when Torrances fiancé discovered an unknown growing mass located on the side of his neck, she advised him to visit the doctors. Unsure what this could be the doctors assumed it was an ear infection and ran plenty of test and imaging that took weeks to come back leaving torrance in a state of fear of the unknown.
For weeks he continued to work to provide for his family all while this mass was unknowingly growing extremely fast. He soaked up all the little moments with his 2 children Kylin and Karter not sure what would be his next step in this process.
After numerous doctors appointments and weeks of pain, it was ultimately determined that this mass was in fact cancerous.
Coincidentally July is sarcoma awareness month and Torrance was diagnosed with this rare and severe disease Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma on June 25th just shy of a week after his 26th birthday. This specific type of Sarcoma attaches itself to soft tissue and is uncommon in his age group. This disease is extremely rare and aggressive and has been slowly taking over his life since April.
Unfortunately Sloan Kettering Cancer Center In New Jersey only has 1 Sarcoma doctor Dr.Kelly that would not see Torrance due to his age and this is technically an adolescent cancer diagnosis. So with no other option due to insurance coverage and not being immediately approved to go to another state to receive treatment he had to have an emergency admission to been admitted into RWJ. Here we found out that there is a tumor growing in his nasal cavity which is blocking his airway and making it difficult to eat and breath and is slowing moving toward his eye socket and skull. Although surgery currently is not an option due to the location of the tumor, doctors plan to shrink the tumor with chemotherapeutic medication before any next steps can be taken.
He is still currently hospitalized and has begun an intensive chemotherapy treatment that has left him in excruciating pain and agony. Although he will be receiving chemo treatments weekly , the path ahead is uncertain. He is trying to remain hopeful through all of this. Torrance is a shining light in any room that he is in and it’s unbelievable to see something like this take over his life. His kindness and resilience through this is nothing short of inspiring. This has been an extremely tumultuous journey with so many new things being thrown at him. Being only 26 years old it’s hard for him to accept this new reality and he feels hopeless at times. He wants nothing more than to be able to go home to his sons and be there for years and all the important milestones that any parent would. But we have faith that this too shall pass.
We are asking for believers all around to gather and pray for us & complete healing of this devastating diagnosis. We are accepting any and all donations that will go directly to the support of Torrance on his fight during this phase of his life. This has been an unthinkable nightmare these past few months for his entire family. Many setbacks are making this process even more challenging than it already is. During this time there are so many life expenses that aren’t being covered by insurance obviously such as time taken off of work and routine trips back and forth to the cancer center to receive chemotherapy treatment every week.
The finances required to cover medical procedures, caregiver support and other sacrificed living expenses since the diagnosis have been significant and will continue to impact Torrance for quite some time. With challenges looming due to insurance obstacles and the complexity of his age and diagnosis, his family is rallying for support, seeking prayer and financial contributions to alleviate the significant costs of treatment and caregiving during this time. Your financial contributions will help support this process immensely. Please donate as you feel led. Everything is appreciated.
