Hello Everyone,
This is Tori and Kris. Many of us out there are going through heartbreaking things from Hurricane Helena, we want to send our thoughts and prayers to you all as well. On the night of the Hurricane, in Brunswick, GA around 2:00 A.M a full size Oak Tree went crashing down onto our house. Me and Tori heard it and jumped up off our bed in a split second (which is what saved our life) and the next thing I realize, I was hanging outside our house dangling off cable wires off a telephone pole that was on the back side of our house. When I woke up after getting knocked out I immediately realized what had just happened and I could not believe it. I heard Tori breathing and telling me she was trapped and she was dying, it’s those words that made me climb out of the rubble and go find her. I climb back up into our bedroom and I miraculously found my phone beside me and turned the flash light on and then found her pinned beside our bed with the roof on top of her and the oak tree on top of the roof. I immediately called 911 and the operator was so helpful trying to calm me down. I held her hand because that’s all I could see and the top of her head. I was praying to the good Lord to please save her. Fire fighter’s made it to the scene and realized how bad of a situation this was. They got me outside and about 15 fire fighter's and 15 county workers showed up with a huge crane to try and lift the tree off the house which would have let her get out. It took them 3 1/2 hours to get her out. She was rushed to the Glynn County Hospital and from there to the Trauma Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Unfortunately, Tori has broken both of her legs in multiple places and both feet are broken as well. She will go into surgery Sunday morning. This will be the first of many operations with plates and screws to try and get her as healthy as they can. She will be wheel chair bound for at least 12 weeks. We simply do not know where we will go from here or what we are going to do. The main thing is making sure we have things in place to help take care of her. We would never ask anyone to donate to us if we did not loose our house and some of our possessions. The main reason we have to try and raise money is her medical assistance for outpatient care when we leave the hospital. We both pray that everyone of you out there are safe and sound. We fully understand that it is hard on everyone right now. Even if you can not donate, that’s perfectly fine. We just ask for continued prayers on her health and wellbeing. I will try to be by her side until the day we push her out of this hospital. We will continue fighting. God saved us that night and that’s the main thing we are thankful for. We love you all. We are praying for everyone. Stay strong, stay committed to trying to help when and where you can in your community. We all will bounce back from this one day at a time.
Love and Prayers To All,
Kris & Tori ❤️
