Tony Milek, who you may know from fronting Bermuda Squares, playing guitar in Neo Neos, or some of his insanely good former garage bands (Sinks, Retainers, etc), has been in the hospital since September 16th with a life-threatening bone infection related to diabetes. Both of his big toes had to be amputated. They also discovered he’s been walking on a broken foot. Doctors are estimating he’ll need long-term nursing/rehab facility for approximately two months.
Tony is a very independent guy and despite his resistance to asking for help, he needs these funds for major medical bills, surgery, hospital stay, rehabilitation in a long term skilled nursing facility, lost wages, and to help afford diabetic medication for the future (which was jacked by Aetna Insurance from $25/month to $350/month). This is also a way for us (all his friends and family) to help out that he can't say no to.
Even IF insurance chooses to cover it, it will be an insane cost (likely $500/day minimum if it's out of pocket). Staying in a rehabilitation facility is the safest place to be for Tony right now while he works on regaining mobility, and needs to be seen by doctors several times a week to be monitored for infection, and to develop a long term strategy to ensure he doesn’t have additional problems.
Whatever you can give will help immensely. Tony is unable to work right now so this sets him back pretty far financially. He is super resistant to accepting help in most forms, so this is the best way to force it on him. Us. His friends. Who are saying "yeahhh but we're going to do this anyway". Because we love him very much.
