Hi, my name is Jennifer and I'm trying to raise money for my best friend/family, Cassandra, to be able to get a handicap van for her husband, Tony. One day in January 2026, she woke up to her life being changed forever. I have known Cassie and her family for 33 years. She is the strongest woman that I know and will NEVER ask for help. Of course, I don't listen, so I'm doing what I can to help her and her family.
Back in early January, Tony was having back pain. You know, the type that us older folks have. He went to bed being able to walk and woke up the next morning and couldn't use his legs. Cassie then called 911 and had Tony transported to the hospital. Doctors found fluid on his spine and he had to have emergency surgery. Tony then went into a rehab facility. He was able to feel tingling in his legs. Everything seemed to be going up. There was finally light at the end of the tunnel. He was asked by the OT to complete some upper twisting moves. When Tony started those, there was a pop and he was in excruciating pain. The facility left him like that for about 4 hours until Cassie was able to get there after work. They had told her that they couldn't do anything more for his pain. They had given him all the pain meds that they were allowed to. The facility took his BP and it was at 200. They immediately called 911 and he was transported to the hospital. By this time, Tony couldn't feel his legs anymore. After the scans were completed, the doctors found a hematoma and he had to have another emergency surgery. He is now paralyzed from his waist down. The doctors also found a bedsore near his tailbone from being in the rehab facility, that is healing. Tony is finally home with his wife, who will be caring for him.
I want Cassie to be able to take Tony to his doctor's appointments and not have to depend on a transportation service. I want Tony to be able to go see his kids and grandkids. Even though his life will never be the same, I don't want him to think that he no longer has a purpose in life. This man is only 56 years old. Any help you can give this wonderful family will be greatly appreciated.
