Support Tony's Fight Against Rare Cancer

Donation protected
Hello everyone. This GoFundMe page is for Anthony Leach also known as TONY (Ironworker/rigger, our Dad/husband). As some of you may know Tony was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer. Specifically: dedifferentiated liposarcoma spermatic cord cancer Stage 3. This specific cancer is so rare that there are fewer than 200 cases reported in the world. (Link provided below)

Tony's story-

Tony's battle with this cancer began in South Florida where he was working at the time. His urologist ordered an MRI which showed a mass that led to surgery. Therefore an orchiectomy was performed. The mass was identified as cancer but, they couldn't identify the type of cancer other than sarcoma. (his urologist said he'd never seen anything like it in his entire career) Tony was then referred to the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (UOM) where rare cancers are their specialty. After further research, the cancer was specifically identified as Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma Spermatic Cord Cancer Stage 3. A very rare and aggressive type of cancer. Fortunately we were blessed to have been referred to the number one specialist in the country who specializes in this specific form of cancer. Following a meeting with the specialist and after undergoing further testing we were told there was a remaining portion of the malignant mass that was unfortunately left behind. Given the very aggressive nature of this specific type of cancer, an extremely aggressive treatment plan was implemented.

Due to the intensity of the treatment plan it was decided that it would be best for Tony to leave South Florida and fight the cancer close to home for family support. Fortunately, Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, partners and collaborates with University of Miami Sylvester comprehensive Cancer Center. Therefore, since they were willing and capable of implementing the exact treatment plan for Tony's aggressive form of cancer, Tony decided to undergo his cancer treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center. This treatment plan consists of Tony completing in-patient hospital stays that are five days in length, every 21 days for 3 months. Then three to four weeks of recovery time before starting radiation which consists of 33 radiation treatments. Following radiation there will be approximately six weeks of healing before surgery which includes plastic surgery as well. Followed by an undetermined amount of healing and recovery time.

Tony has completed the difficult chemo regiment and has now started radiation therapy to attack the cells in a more direct approach. As you can imagine, this aggressive treatment plan has caused Tony to have to take a temporary leave of absence from his job as an ironworker/rigger. This has taken an immense financial and emotional toll on him and our family. He has a long road ahead before he can return to work. If you know Tony, you know he isn't the type of man to ask for help from anyone except his Heavenly Father (as he would say). Medical and personal expenses are adding up, and therefore, it is with humble hearts, we ask for you to please donate to help support our family during this difficult time. All donations and prayers are greatly appreciated. It would mean the world to our family if you could share this with others.

Thank you,
-The Leach Family
