Support Tonya Hill & Family

Many of your know that in January 2018 Tonya was diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer. As her family navigates their new “normal” it’s become clear that they could benefit from our collective support. As an independent contractor, many workplace safeguards don’t apply Tonya. A 10 day hospitalization at the end of December resulted in  losing all of her bookkeeping clients and 100% loss of income in January. February has enabled Tonya to pick up new clients and secure a few former clients but her income remains less than half than before her hospitalization. As the cumulative effects of chemo work their way through Tonya’s body the cumulative effects of her illness effect every facet of their lives, especially financially. Tonya, Jeff, Adam and JT greatly appreciate your kindness, support and prayers.

In Tonya’s words:

On January 31, 2018 my life changed!  The C word was tough to hear.  Days later the type of C word was tougher to hear and weeks later the stage of C word was devastating news.  I have Stage 4 Bile Duct Cancer with an inoperable, very large tumor growing in my liver.  I immediately knew that although the odds seemed against me, “I would live and not die and declare the works of the Lord” Psalm 118:17. I even told my oncologist that my faith would heal me and I would use his tools.

I began Chemotherapy on February 27, 2018.  Every treatment we prayed that  the chemo would go in as the blood of Jesus and only effect the cancer cells, leaving the rest of my body healthy with no side effects. After the first round of chemo the tumor shrunk about a 3rd.  After the 2nd round it shrunk almost in half, but I had an allergic reaction to one of the chemo meds. The reaction made it so I could only take one of the two chemo drugs. The 3rd round consisted of a single drug. Towards the end of November 2018 I decided to take a break from chemo and only partially complete round 3, as a result, the tumor did show some growth.

I started a fourth round of chemo with the single drug on 12/20/18.   On 12/26/18 I was receiving treatment and began to feel bad.  I ended up in the hospital for 10 days treating blood clots in my lungs and sepsis.

2019 has been a rough start but I have hopeful news that I am able to start back on the chemo that I had a reaction to by getting treatment in an allergist office. The new treatment takes longer since they are desensitizing me  to the drug that I reacted to. I am hopeful this will begin to shrink the tumor again!  So beginning 2/5/19 I have treatment for a full 8 hours on Tuesday and for 2 hours on Wednesday. My next scan should be in April and I pray for the tumor to show a decrease in size.

My faith is strong.  I have appreciated the prayers from so many family and friends and all were felt as I had very few side effects and didn’t even lose my hair! I am so thankful for all the prayers God is good and He is a Healer!!  I appreciate so much all the love, prayers, and outreach for my family and me. I am trying to keep life as normal as I can for the boys.  Jeff is my rock and has been there for me beyond anything I could imagine.  My mom is amazing and keeps me uplifted.  My dear friends who sit with me at chemo or drive me around have just been more than awesome!   I am so blessed!  God has got this.  It is well!   I pray Psalm 23 every night.
