Support Tony Ten Fingers' Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
Hey everyone, I wanted to reach out to all of you and let you know that I'm raising funds for my teacher, mentor, and friend Tony Ten Fingers. Tony suffered a massive stroke a few weeks ago and is still in active recovery. Every week he is in danger of being kicked out of his recovery center even though he is still making significant progress (and yes, this is related to recent attempts by the government to cut funding for the Bureau of Indian Health and challenges with Medicaid).
For those of you who don't know Tony, he has been a teacher and sharer of traditional Lakota wisdom and knowledge for decades. He's been very influential in the Deep Nature Connection and Ancestral Skills community, serving as a mentor and role model to a whole generation of leaders. He's also worked deeply with indigenous populations around the country and around the world, helping in fields as diverse as formal academia, helping incarcerated youth, teen expeditions, substance abuse prevention and treatment, workshop facilitation, training Master Naturalists for South Dakota, creating an indigenous leadership program based around Crazy Horse, and even developing a Lakota-language based nature and animal program for elementary kids.
The money raised from this campaign will go directly to help Tony with completing his recovery, help him and his partner Taffy get back on their feet, and help Tony is his journey towards a new job as a counselor working with incarcerated indigenous men in California.
Let's all help Tony get the help he needs and get back on his feet so he can continue to do his amazing work in the world.
