I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear friend Tony Smith and his wife, Pam, during one of the most difficult chapters of their lives. I met Tony over 15 years ago when he was an Odwalla delivery representative and I was his operations manager. Despite our different backgrounds and a generational gap, we quickly became great friends. Even after our careers ended, Tony and I stayed in close contact and continued to work together over the years. Our friendship has always been built on mutual respect, loyalty, and kindness.
Last year, during one of our regular catch-up calls, Tony shared heartbreaking news. He had been diagnosed with cancer. Shortly after, we learned the cancer had metastasized and spread to both his colon and lungs, making it stage 4. Hearing this was devastating. Tony is one of the hardest-working, most humble people I know. He has always shown up for others, including me during some of the most painful moments of my life, the passing of my father and the loss of my 19 year old nephew to cancer. Tony has always been there without hesitation.
Today, Tony and Pam are facing significant financial hardship. Pam has taken time off work to be by Tony’s side during his treatments, and Tony is physically unable to work. The mounting medical bills, rising deductibles, and everyday expenses have created an overwhelming burden for them, one no family should have to carry alone. Tony is a man full of pride. He would never ask for help himself. But I know, and he knows that support is deeply needed during this time.
If this message has reached you, I ask from the bottom of my heart that you consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Your generosity will help ease the financial stress so Tony and Pam can focus on what truly matters: his health, healing, and time together. If you have ever supported a loved one through cancer, or lost someone to this disease, please consider donating in their name and paying it forward to my kind friend in his time of need. Your donation means more than you can possibly imagine. Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting Tony and Pam during this incredibly difficult time.
