Hi! I am Lindsay Day and I am here to support our great, great friend Tony Lash while he navigates a difficult health journey. In September 2025, Tony received a diagnosis of colon cancer. He completed the first phase of treatment–radiation and chemotherapy–in November/December, and is about to start 24 more weeks of chemotherapy, followed by surgery. In all, it will be around eight more months of treatment and recovery. The timing of this has been extra financially challenging. The first round of treatment maxed out his high insurance deductible at the end of 2025, only for it reset January 1st. And, like so many of us are dealing with, his insurance premiums went up 70% at the beginning of the year. Tony has had to cut back on work to make time for medical appointments and take sick days, which has significantly impacted his income. His extremely supportive wife, Sarah, had not been working last year while finishing her master's program. Although she graduated in December and has accepted a new job offer, she can’t start working yet due to bureaucratic delays.

The funds raised here would help to cover Tony’s medical costs, medications and copays; help with monthly bills; cover time off for chemo effects, surgery and recovery; and pay for other wellness expenses.

Tony is the most annoyingly humble person I know and I am incredibly lucky to call him one of my best friends. He is truly an amazing, funny, talented, passionate person. A lifelong Portlander, he contributed to and found success in the music scene here for 35 years, playing with Heatmiser and Sunset Valley, and helping other artists find their sound in the studio. He then found a new path, dedicating himself to helping others as a licensed professional counselor. Our friendship has been very serendipitous. I met Tony in our first term in counseling school, and we instantly hit it off. We bonded on the bus talking loudly about personal stories and music. Our friendship has only grown and he has become someone I can fully trust and confide in. He will always be my celebrity friend, a fact I won't let him forget. I know I am just one in a world of people that consider Tony a friend.
