Support Tony D’Amore's Heart Surgery Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Andrea D’Amore, and my husband is Tony D’Amore. We are the sole proprietors of Final Touch Inspections.

On Monday, the fourth of November, Tony went to the doctor for a routine check-up and got a flu shot. Fast-forward to that Friday, he started feeling ill when he got home from work and went straight to bed. On Saturday morning, when he got up, he wasn’t feeling well at all, totally out of breath. We just thought maybe he needed a breathing treatment and some fluids because he was dehydrated. They took him to the ER and quickly found out that not only was he positive for the flu, but he was also in diabetic ketoacidosis. His blood sugars were over 450, and his pulse was over 145. They were very concerned and did a bunch of lab work. When they finally got the results, they found out that he was leaking a heart enzyme that can let doctors know if you are having a heart attack. Those numbers never came down, so they did an angiogram, which revealed that he had two blockages. So they scheduled him for a double bypass surgery. Once they got in there, they saw that he had had a mild heart attack, and the way the doctor wanted to perform the operation he could no longer do, due to the fact that his artery was no longer viable. So his recovery in the hospital went well. He’s up and walking, talking, and smiling as only Tony can do.

But now we are needing some help because of us being self-employed and Tony is the only one that works. As for myself, I’m trying to get on disability due to chronic back issues and just having a knee replacement six months ago that I’ve had complications with. Plus, many other surgeries with my hands, which makes work for me pretty much impossible. It’s hard to believe we went through such a life-altering event at 51 years old. But here we are. So if you could find it in your heart (and wallet) and donate a little money to help get us by, so Tony doesn’t have to stress about going back to work too soon and causing damage, and more stress on his heart, we would really appreciate it. Right now, the struggles are real, and we normally would never ask this of anyone, but anything would help. The family is so grateful that Tony is such a fighter and came through it. Thank you.

UPDATE:
Tony is doing great. PT came today and was happy with his progress. Said he was strong and that him being so active before is helping him heal and get him back on the road to recovery. So for this being younger was definitely on his side. We appreciate all the calls and text messages. It’s a little hard for Tony to respond to all of them, talking makes him start coughing and puts strain on his chest. But just know that he sees them and listens to the voicemails, and appreciates it all. We love you all, even if you just take the time to read our story and say a little prayer, we appreciate it all!
