Hi Friends and Family, my name is Ashley Cory and I am the baby of the Cory children.

On Friday, October 3rd, 2025, my crazy, caring, loving, and oh sooo sarcastic brother, Tony Cory, suffered from a pontine stroke (a pontine stroke refers to a stroke within the pons, the largest component of the brain stem). Thankfully, his better half, Sonia, was by his side for it all and she convinced him to go to the VA emergency room. He was then transferred to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where they were able to stabilize Tony and run multiple tests. Tony and Sonia were headed to Crestline, CA for a weekend getaway when this happened; therefore, they have been about 3 hours away from home for all this. Tony has a long road of recovery with his Physical and Occupational Therapy to get back to normal. He was released from ARMC yesterday, 10/8/2025, and they are finally home.

As we all know Tony, he didn't want to think anything was wrong. As a result of the stroke, he is having a hard time with his right side, especially his right arm. He only has about 50 percent movement right now and can also only walk about 5 steps.

With this being said, he will not be able to work for a while. Of course, disability is filed and VA things have been filed, but it's a hell of a fight with the VA insurance approvals and all the BS. He does have some vacation and paid leave with his work, which in the coming weeks will be coming to an end!! We do know that we will have PT and OT, and right now, due to us waiting for all these approvals, we feel like bills will start piling up!

My brother has a heart of gold, he is the closest to our Dad that we have, and I couldn't imagine anything happening to him. He has regular bills like everyone else, and with his insurance pending and whatnot, he and Sonia will have to pay out of pocket for the PT and OT until insurance gets approved. Sonia and he have an appointment in 3 weeks with the VA, but like I said, 3 damn weeks, that's crazy...

I am organizing this GoFundMe to provide a few months of no stress for Tony and Sonia. They are amazing people and only deserve the best. Again, my brother has a long road of recovery ahead of him.
