Support Tony Cardin's Recovery Journey

My name is Haven Waters, daughter of Tony & Shannon Cardin.

Many of you know my dad, Tony as “Scrap” or “Scrap Iron” but his favorite title is “Daddy” & “Papa”.

We have recently been battling medical issues with dad. He went to the ER July 19th for a headache he just couldn’t shake. He has recently been put on different medications so we assumed it was side effects related to that change. Little did we know he had an active brain bleed. The doctor compared the brain bleed to be as severe as a head injury from a traumatic car accident. We were all shocked & shaken by this news not knowing what would be next.

The doctors worked quickly to assess the problem and got the bleeding stopped within 24 hours. He was discharged July 22nd but was still having his headaches. Being as stubborn as he is, he toughed them out all week thinking it would just take time to heal. Through that week he started experiencing stroke like symptoms such as confusion, slurred speech, losing function in his right arm/ hand, etc. He let us take him back into the ER July 26th. They admitted him and advised he would have surgery to remove the blood from his brain. Monday, July 29th the neurosurgeon went in and removed the blood from his brain and placed a drain to release the pressure caused by the blood. Although he is not 100% back to his normal self, this has thankfully helped his symptoms significantly.

He has been downplaying how significant this whole process has been on his brain & body and is just ready to go home and jump back on his bulldozer.

Unfortunately, Dad was told this morning that he will not be able to return back to work for a minimum of 4-6 weeks. Since he is the main source of income for their household, this has placed a huge strain on them.

Anyone who knows Tony & Shannon know they would do anything under the sun for others. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, never asking for anything in return. Honestly, he would whip me if he knew I was creating this but I know the power of prayer & community and they simply need help through this.

Prayers are the most valuable thing our family needs right now, for him to make a full recovery. Secondly, they need help financially to help cover the cost of bills, groceries, gas, medical expenses, etc.
