To all my friends I lovingly call my Fellow Babies and to any strangers who may be seeing this, my name is Tony Andrews and I come here humbly asking for some assistance.
As many of you know, I am a Little Person who was born with Achondroplasia. It is an affliction that does not only cause shortened arms and legs, but also causes painful degeneration of the spine and hip. Miraculously, I was spared any great affliction, but in the last few years, it has become very painful. Painful to the point where walking assistance has been needed and my active lifestyle has been greatly reduced.
Recently, I called Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Johns Hopkins has a stellar reputation for surgical excellence and success. Furthermore, Johns Hopkins has a unit specifically centered around Little People, like myself. I called the noted orthopedic department to see what can be done. After a brief phone interview, and three days later, I was was fortunate to hear a surgeon on their panel would take my case and would be happy to meet to discuss my options. An appointment was made for Thursday November 6th.
Currently I am on SS Disability and my funds are greatly scattered with other financial commitments that make collecting and saving quite difficult. Hence my need to appear here to implore your generosity.
Right now, it is only a consultation appointment and not the surgery itself. I am asking for the small nest egg listed here to help with travel, lodging, and extra needs. Any funds not used would be used to start the padding I will need for when the surgery is scheduled.
I am very humbled in making this request but I am in great need of some help. Can you be one of my many Guardian Angels??? Your help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you and God Bless!!
