My mom is preparing for a major surgery to remove a cyst that is connected to her heart, left lung, and esophagus. The cyst is almost as large as her heart, and this has created a very serious and frightening medical situation for our family. As she gets ready for surgery, we are doing everything we can to support her through this difficult time and help her focus on healing.

After surgery, my mom will be unable to work for almost three months while she recovers. Unfortunately, her employer does not provide short-term disability, and she does not have PTO or sick time to fall back on. That means she will still be facing her regular monthly bills and living expenses without any income during her recovery period. While my father will be there to help care for her, he is a retired disabled veteran living on a limited income, so their household is not in a position to absorb this financial strain. We are raising funds to help cover those essential expenses so she can rest and recover without the added stress of wondering how she will afford her bills.
