Hi everyone,

My name is Julie Gaines, and I am organizing this fundraiser for my best friend, Tondala Carreathers, because she would never ask this for herself.

Tondala is only 45 years old and was diagnosed with Stage 2B bilateral breast cancer, an aggressive form of the disease, in October 2025. She has undergone several rounds of one chemotherapy regimen followed by the “Red Devil” chemotherapy and will undergo double mastectomy soon, but right now she is facing a series of incredibly difficult decisions and delays, not because of medical hesitation, but financial barriers. There are critical treatments and supportive therapies that are not covered by insurance, many of which require upfront payment with payment plan options.

Tondala is the kind of person who has always tried to do everything on her own. She never asks for help and often feels guilty even when needing it. I took this step on her behalf because I want her to know that she is loved and deserves to be worry free during this difficult time. She needs the freedom to focus fully on her healing and recovery, rather than worrying about how to pay for the care she needs.

All funds raised will go directly toward Tondala’s medical expenses, including all treatments, supportive care, and surgeries during this period when she is unable to work. No donation is too small, and every contribution will make a difference.
