My brother, Tom’s life changed in an instant when his colon ruptured on Christmas Eve, leading to sepsis and emergency surgery to remove his colon. He spent 5 days in the ICU at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, but is now stabilized and slowly recovering from this traumatic event. The road ahead is long—Tom will need at least 1 - 2 weeks in the hospital, followed by physical and occupational therapy to regain his strength and independence.
This health crisis has meant lost wages, and the inability to return to his previous job since it required heavy lifting. Tom recently learned that he may end up on permanent disability. On top of mounting medical bills, Tom faces high monthly health insurance costs (COBRA), as well as ongoing therapy and living expenses. The financial strain is overwhelming, and every bit of support will help Tom focus on healing and rebuilding his life.
Supporting Tom would mean the world to me, as he is my only remaining sibling. Our sister died of cancer last year around this time, and our parents passed away when we were young. Your kindness and generosity will make a tremendous difference for Tom and for me, helping us face this difficult journey with hope and gratitude.
Please note: Be sure to indicate whether your donation is a 'one time' or a 'monthly' donation, since the it seems the default is 'monthly'.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for considering a donation and for being part of Tom’s recovery.
