Help a Veteran's Fight Against Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer
Tom's Story: Tom is a very hard working man who is one of our country's truck drivers. Tom is also a retired Veteran who has served this great country in the Army for 25 years. He works long hours during the week and on the weekends, he takes care of his mother and mother in law.
Tom had been having really bad pain in his stomach and we just kept thinking it was his Gallbladder. On 09/14/2024 Tom was in so much pain he had asked me to take him to the Emergency Room after I had got home from a cheer comp. Tom explains the pain to the ER doctor. Lab work done and nothing wrong with Gallbladder. Doctor tells us that we can do a CT Scan to rule out for sure, so we did. After several hours, the doctor comes in and tells us that nothing is wrong with his Gallbladder, but you have Pancreatic Cancer! Our world came crashing down!. His dad had passed 6 years ago from this very cancer. Fear set in. He continued on with testing and had a biopsy to confirm it was cancer and results were yes it was indeed Pancreatic Cancer, Stage IV.
Tom has since started Chemo Treatments down in Philadelphia. He had one treatment so far. His 2nd appointment got cancelled due to low White Blood Cell Count. His next treatment is 2 weeks away! In the process of figuring this horrific cancer out, we have been researching other treatments. We have research the NanoKnife procedure. This procedure is only done by roughly 13 doctors in the United States. We are currently in the process to have a consult with a doctor in Florida and move forward with this procedure with hopes this will help Tom and give him more time with his family. This procedure is not covered under Insurance for Pancreatic Cancer and we will need to pay for it out of our own pocket. The cost for just the doctor by himself is $15,000.00 and that does not include travel expenses and food to stay there for 1 week.
With Tom being the main source of income and rising medical bills, our family is asking for any donations that you can make to help save our Veteran, husband, father, poppa and son. We do understand that many are struggling! Any amount that you can give would be appreciated greatly! If you can not donate, we do understand! If you could please just share and send words of encouragements and pray for God to heal this wonderful man I get to call my Veteran, Husband, Father, Poppa and Son.
God bless you all!
