Hello there! I know it’s the start of the semester, and you’re probably thinking, “Someone wants MY money?? Really??” But I’m asking for help for someone who truly means the world to me.

On January 18th, 2026, my cat Tommy was diagnosed with a life-threatening internal condition. The surgery he urgently needs will cost around $3,900.

According to the vet, crystals have formed in his bladder and genital area, blocking his urethra and making it extremely difficult and painful for him to pee. Before I took him to the vet, Tommy was yowling and crying nonstop, something he never does!! (His mom is usually the loud one) He stopped eating, stopped grooming himself, and was clearly in severe pain. I was devastated to learn that without this surgery, he could die.

Tommy isn’t “just a cat” to me. I was there the moment he entered this world,his mom gave birth under my bed. He was the runt of a litter of three, and after finding homes for his 2 sisters, I knew I couldn’t let him go. I’ve been with him every day since.

We’ve watched Naruto, My Hero Academia, and so many other animes together. I’ve spent countless nights cuddling him to sleep. When he was a baby, I genuinely thought he might not survive because he was so small and fragile( yall he lowkenuenly looked like he was gunna fall over every second) and watching him grow big and strong only to face something like this now breaks my heart.

I still remember when he was tiny and jumped into my school bag (I actually have a photo, check the link!). Or when he’d jump in the sink so everyone had to pet him instead of being able to wash their hands. Or when he got stuck on my apartment roof as a kitten and I had to climb out the window to rescue him. I can’t imagine my life without his chaos, or my other cat Amber(his biological mom) losing her son. They play together, groom each other, fight over toys, and cuddle every day.

The vet believes this condition may be related to diet and hydration, meaning Tommy will need wet food for moisture, a filtered water fountain, and long-term care, on top of the surgery itself. Wet food alone is expensive, and as a broke joke college student, this is overwhelming. My familyhas never been in a great financial position, and I rely heavily on scholarships just to be in school.

I would do anything for Tommy, but Its hard for me to do this alone.

• His real name is Elliot, but everyone calls him Tommy because he looks just like his dad, a deli cat, who was named Tommy. No one actually calls him Elliot.
• He loves water. Every day he waits in the shower for someone to turn it on so he can rub his head under the stream.
• His birthday is November 8th, 2021. Hes getting to be a big boy!!
• He’s incredibly tolerant!! You can violently push and pull him around and he doesn’t care. I used to dress him up and he’d just accept it.
• He does not like Neon Genesis Evangelion. I don’t know why. I love that show though, but this isnt about me I suppose.
• He loves Spanish food (and once ate an entire plate as a kitten).
• He hates treats.
