Hi, my name is Tommy!
I've existed in the world of competitive sports my entire life, but after a career-ending injury in college, I was unable to pursue my athletic dreams within contact sports any longer. I struggled a lot through those times, and the absence of sport opened up a very large hole in who I was. After years of feeling lost and having no real way of filling that space, I found a company called Still I Run that focuses on eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting movement as a way of returning back to yourself. A switch flipped in my brain within the first week of following them. I set out to complete the 75 Days Hard Challenge to gain back a base level of fitness, and since then, I've never looked back. My world is now centered in mental health advocacy and endurance sports. I am minutes away from a qualifying time that would classify me as a semi-professional marathon runner. I have been an Ambassador for Still I Run for four years, and I represent the organization at the world's largest professional race series, the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
The Abbott World Marathon Majors is a series consisting of seven of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world: Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America, TCS London Marathon, TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS (as of November 2024), BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and TCS New York City Marathon. These races consistently draw the world's best marathon runners, making them highly competitive events. Each marathon offers a distinct course, atmosphere, and cultural experience, and fosters a global community of runners, creating opportunities for camaraderie and shared experiences. Many runners, like myself, use these events to raise money for the nonprofits they represent, which normally yields millions of dollars worth of fundraising for amazing organizations around the world.
At the moment, all of my fundraising goes directly to Still I Run and helps to strengthen their programs and resources. Because I am not a sponsored athlete yet, that leaves me to self-fund all of my travel costs around the world; and in this case specifically, my trip to Sydney, Australia this August. This fundraising page is set up to help me out with travel costs as I continue to represent the organization that saved me on the world's biggest stage and work to become a professional marathon runner.
Thank you so much for supporting my journey! Always forward.
