Dear Friends and Family,
Many of you know my cousin Melissa and her son Tommy Brewer. I am reaching out with a heavy heart today to ask for your support for her son Tommy, a devoted husband, father of a new baby, and step-father of two. Tommy is facing the battle of his life. At just 26 years old, Tommy was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) last December. Despite his bravery and the treatments he has undergone in Springfield, MO, Tommy's condition has worsened.
Recently, Tommy and his wife went to the emergency room because he has been fighting multiple infections and feeling fatigued and in pain. While there, doctors discovered he is now in a blast crisis with a very aggressive form of this cancer that has spread. Tommy was transferred by ambulance to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City on Monday night, where he will need to undergo five months of intensive chemotherapy and a bone marrow treatment.
During this challenging time, Tommy is isolated in the hospital, only able to see his wife, but not their children. The thought of missing his son Jameson’s first birthday is heartbreaking. As he focuses on healing, he will be unable to work, leaving his family in a precarious financial situation.
We are asking for your help to cover essential family expenses, medical bills, and the costs of travel to and from Kansas City for Tesha. Despite insurance, most of us realize that the cost of fighting cancer goes well beyond what insurance can cover. Your generosity can make a profound difference in alleviating the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.
Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to providing Tommy and his family with the support they need. Additionally, we ask for your prayers for healing and strength as they navigate this journey.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and help.
With gratitude, Laura
