Support Tommy Gable's Road to Recovery

Campaign Story

Hello, my name is Krista Gable, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my amazing father, Tommy Gable. My dad, who is 73 years old, has always been a strong and independent man, but over the last month, his health has taken a serious turn. He was rushed to the hospital nearly four weeks ago after breaking his hip, but the tests performed during his stay revealed even more serious health challenges: full-blown diabetes and dangerously high blood pressure.

Doctors believe my dad has been struggling with these conditions for years without knowing, and his health has significantly declined. While he’s now stable and on the road to recovery, the care he requires moving forward is overwhelming both financially and emotionally.

Why We’re Asking for Help

My father will be discharged into my care and is living with me full-time. I’ve applied for every possible assistance program—Medicaid, food assistance, and more—but his social security income is slightly above the cutoff, meaning he doesn’t qualify for additional help.

Here are the current challenges we’re facing:

• Medication Costs: My dad is now on several daily medications that Medicare only partially covers.

• Home Care Products: Essential supplies like glucose monitors, blood pressure equipment, and other medical necessities are not covered by Medicare.

• Specialist Visits: He’ll need to see multiple specialists regularly, and the out-of-pocket costs are adding up quickly.

• Temporary Nurse Care: Between Christmas and New Year’s, I’ll need to hire a nurse to care for my dad while I’m out of town. The cost is $41–$51 per hour for just one week.

How You Can Help

I’m humbly asking for your help to cover the costs of my dad’s care. My goal is to raise at least $5,000 to ensure that he has:

• The medications and medical supplies he needs to manage his conditions.

• Access to necessary specialists without financial strain.

• Temporary professional care while I’m away, as well as support for his ongoing needs at home.
