As many of you know, Tom Moxley has faced some very serious health challenges in the last 2 years. In February of 2024, Tom suffered a stroke and was hospitalized for an extended period of time in ABQ at UNM and Christus in Santa Fe. Tom worked diligently with PT, OT, and Cardiac Rehab, to regain his health and function.
Unfortunately, he was recently dealt with another massive blow.
In April 2025, Tom learned that he is in end-stage heart and kidney failure and is now in need of a double organ transplant. Unfortunately, New Mexico does not have a heart transplant program available. During his hospitalization at Presbyterian in ABQ, he learned that several members of the cardiology team trained with the heart transplant program at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Tom’s sister, Jennifer (Jen), lives in Seattle and with a recommendation from the physicians at Presbyterian and local family support in place in Washington State, he was medically transferred and accepted to receive care with the University of Washington Heart Transplant Program.
Tom remains hospitalized in Washington and Jen is keeping his spirits up with frequent visits to see him in the hospital, serving as his health advocate, handling logistics of his financial issues, as well as caring for Tom’s 6 year old daughter, Zoe, when she visits Seattle to see her dad. These visits from Zoe are what keeps Tom going right now.
To make matters worse, Tom was recently “medically discharged” from his 20+ years employment at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and his medical insurance through LANL was terminated. As many of you can guess, the bills are piling up and Tom has no income and no insurance at this time. He is facing insurmountable medical bills, the possibility of losing his home in White Rock, and is engaged in a prolonged and contentious custody battle for his daughter. Tom is a true warrior, continuing to fight for his health, his daughter, and his life.
Many of us have been on the receiving end of Tom's generosity, now it is time to give back. Our friend desperately needs our help. Please consider donating so he can worry a little less while he continues his fight.
