Support Tom McCabe's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
McCabe family here! Normal-ish family - or so we thought - mom, dad, three kids (Lana, Tom, Christian, Chance, Rosalie). Enjoying life and making the most of it with what we have. Well, that just got thrown back at us with a MAJOR curveball.

On August 27, 2024, Tom passed out at work and fell through the hatch of a boat he was working on. I went and picked him up from work and we went to the emergency room. Tom was evaluated, admitted, and after numerous tests, was found to have internal bleeding. Biopsies were taken and … yup, you guessed it, it’s colorectal cancer. The tumor was bleeding, slowly over time, and caused his hemoglobin level to drop to 7 - it should be between 12-17.

Tom just had surgery on October 1, 2024. The surgeon removed about a foot of his colon and along with that - 19 lymph nodes! The pathology report came back today and although the margins were clear, the cancer has spread to one of the 19 lymph nodes. It was explained by his surgeon that the stage is 2/3 and he has stated that chemotherapy for at least three months is needed. We need to meet with an oncologist to confirm a more regimented treatment plan, but the least amount of chemotherapy recommended is three months.

Tom is a hard-working, loving, compassionate, family-oriented man. He not only provides stability to his work, but most importantly, he helps provide strength and stability to his family and friends. As most families here, he provides a substantial amount of support, financial and emotional support, to his wife, kids, and extended family. Due to this devastating diagnosis and the treatment involved in fighting it, Tom will have to take off of work. Unfortunately, his employer does not have a short-term disability insurance policy to help in these times of need - hence, this is our reason in asking for your help and support here.

With your support, we will be able to keep our family housed, safe, fed, warmed, and stable. Without Tom’s income from missed days at work due to his needed medical treatment, we are at an extremely high risk of losing our home, vehicles, medical insurance, and stability for our kids.
