Support Tom Heasley's Medical & Recovery Expenses

On June 18th, after two weeks of headaches and sinus infection symptoms, Tom was rushed to the emergency of Lewis-Gale Medical Center, where he arrived weak and losing consciousness. He was brought by his wife Amanda, who was recovering from major surgery to remove an abdominal tumor.

After long and scary 24 hours, it was informed that Tom was unconscious and fighting a brain infection. After several exams and two lumbar punctures, Tom was diagnosed with Spinal Meningitis and was admitted to the ICU, on a oxygen, restrained, in and out of consiousness. He had a seizure and seemed to have been in a lot of pain.

He has been fighting for his life every day since his diagnosis. Additionally, the following days of progress will be critical in determining his long-term prognosis. Tom has a very long recovery path ahead, including the need for physical and speech therapy. He will be staying at the hospital for at least two more weeks, and the recovery process may take a few months.

Since he is still in critical condition, we have yet to fully understand the financial impact of this for him, his wife and three children. In addition to the extensive medical bills this will incur, there are medical bills related to his wife Amanda’s tumor removal.

Tom and Amanda are self-employed and Tom is currently unable to work. Like many of us, his family relies on a steady income. Amanda is keeping their business running while staying in the ICU with Tom and caring for their children, but her focus now has to be on Tom.

The weeks and months ahead will certainly be challenging both emotionally and financially. We first ask for prayers for Tom and his recovery. Additionally, we would like to help ease some of the financial burdens and show the Heasley family how many people love and support them. With so many unknowns, let's rally around Tom to financially support him and his family. Any level of support will be greatly appreciated. God bless you all!
