Support Tom Halpin's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Growing up in Brookfield, Illinois in the 60s, a working class neighborhood that taught resilience and loyalty, a lifelong friendship of “Brookfield Besties” was formed at Congress Park Elementary School (Brookfield Strong!). A sisterhood was created with 8 girls, with additions of many friends along the way to become the “family” we are today. Attending Lyons Township High School in the 70's, we met Tom Halpin who began dating Kay, one of the original girls. Kay and Tom have been inseparable since high school and they married and raised their wonderful sons Ricky and Jimmy (Eagle Scouts and now graduated from college). All of these years later, we are still a close group, now seniors” in retirement. Recently, tragedy has hit our group with unexpected illness, with Tom first experiencing dizziness and speech difficulties, resulting in hospitalization. After 3 weeks at Edward Hospital Naperville, he was transferred to Northwestern in Chicago for additional tests, which have never resulted in a firm diagnosis. Tom’s physical condition has deteriorated to a feeding tube and sleeping the majority of the time. He has now been discharged to physical therapy, but long term prognosis has yet to be seen. We pray for best outcomes and a full recovery where Tom can again be reading books, listening to music, watching the Bears and Black Hawks and golfing with friends. Expenses for care, equipment, legal fees, and medical bills are piling up. It is our hope and prayers that perhaps we can relieve a bit of the Halpin's burden by contributing to Tom's recovery and care.
Please consider a donation to provide critical financial support. Every contribution, no matter how small, will offer much-needed relief to the family. All money collected minus GoFund Me fees will go directly to the family for Tom’s needs. Thank you for your generosity and kindness.
