Claire Lenz here.
A dear friend of mine that has more friends than you can shake a stick at, needs our help.
Last June, Tom Hall was diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. Unless you've been through it, or know someone who has, it's hard to imagine what it takes to put up a fight against this insidious disease. The mental toll is just as bad as the physical toll. I've seen it firsthand, as have many of you, I'm sure. He gets injections in his stomach every few months, intense pain medication and other drugs to stave it off from spreading to his organs.
For those that don't know much about Tom, he's been an integral part of the KC music scene for at least 40 years. At least that's how long I've known him. Just for a brief history of his, he did several years at The Levee with the Camp Harlow Band, The Point, several other local bars, House of Blues in LA, and even played at the Chicago Blues Fest. He also cut a CD that went national in 1998. Since he's retired, he's devoted his days to his amazing art and is now fighting for his life. If you've never seen any of his art, his creations are amazing and you can find them on his Facebook page. Take a look; you might want to buy some and help him out.
I wanted to do this for him, because trying to fight cancer while worrying about medical bills makes it very difficult to fight for one's life. A person should be able to concentrate on that one thing. It's absolutely imperative to have a clear mind. We're all cognizant of how much medical care is; it's astronomical even with Medicare. Let's support this wonderful human being in this challenging time and give what you can!
Every little bit helps!
