Todd’s journey has always been about helping others heal. As a newly graduated Clinical Mental Health Counselor, he was ready to start his career in Asheville, bringing his warmth, humor, and compassion to those who need it most. Just as he was about to begin this new chapter, a sudden illness changed everything. After a brief trip to the beach, Todd became seriously ill and was hospitalized with a rare parasitic infection. Because he’s immunocompromised from a chronic autoimmune condition, his recovery will be long and complex. The hospital is waiting on a rare medication to begin his treatment, and Todd’s energy is limited—he can only have minimal visitors, and only when they’re able to gown up for his safety. Most encouragement and updates will be shared online to protect his health.

This crisis comes after months of medical challenges, but Todd’s resilience has never wavered. Even from his hospital bed, he’s been trying to coordinate resources and stay positive. Insurance is covering most of his medical expenses, but the loss of income and the cost of essential bills during his recovery are creating a heavy burden. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Todd has always brought laughter and support to his friends and clients. Now, during Pride Month, we have a chance to rally around him and show the same care he’s given to so many others.
