Hello everyone,
My name is Emma, and this is our beloved dachshund, Toby. He is such a sweet and affectionate boy. In 2021, we took Toby to a veterinarian in to evaluate a lump we had noticed and to explore treatment options. At that time, we were told we simply “needed to learn to love a lumpy dog” and to massage the area, as it would resolve on its own.
Since then, we have sought further opinions, including from another veterinarian and an oncologist. We have learned that the lump is not cancerous, but rather a large, blocked salivary gland that continues to grow. Unfortunately, removing it would cost approximately $5,000–$7,000.
Toby remains a bright and loving presence in our lives. While the gland is currently painless, it continues to enlarge and is approaching his eye and throat. If left untreated, it could eventually interfere with his breathing, which could require us to consider euthanasia. Toby is only seven years old and still has so much life and joy to share. He loves running and playing with our other four dachshunds and is a constant source of happiness.
We are grateful for any support as we work toward providing the care Toby needs. Every contribution helps us in his journey, and we deeply appreciate all those who help us give him the chance to continue living a happy and healthy life.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
