Support Toby’s Second Hip Replacement

Donation protected
My name is Toby, and I’m reaching out for support as I prepare for my second hip replacement. After going through my first surgery, I learned just how challenging recovery can be—not only physically, but financially and emotionally as well. My job is as active as it gets: I dirtbike, hike, swim, kayak, and haul equipment with dog packs of 8-16 dogs. When I had my first hip replaced, my surgeon required me to take 3.5 months off work. That time away wiped out my savings and left me relying on food pantries just to get by. Oregon Paid Leave still hasn’t come through with the support I was promised, and the stress of it all led me into a depression I’ve fought hard to overcome.

Now, I’m facing the need for a second hip replacement due to a birth defect. I don’t have a surgery date yet, but the pain in my left hip is getting worse, and I know this operation is inevitable. I’m working on a couple of ways to earn a living during recovery, including selling apparel and products on my Bonfire page, developing an online dog training course based on my own methods from the last 9 years, and exploring other types of virtual training support. Securing these funds will determine whether I can keep my small business, Wild Pup Adventures, alive or whether I’ll need to seek another way to earn a living. There’s a lot of uncertainty about what will work, but I’m doing everything I can to prepare. I can’t work during recovery, and I’ll need help with daily expenses and caring for my dogs again. Your support will help me avoid the hardship I went through last time and give me a chance to focus on healing, not just surviving.

I want to thank you, donors, in advance. This ordeal is very stressful and a lot is unknown right now, but I am raising funds in the long term to put into savings for this event. Whether this surgery happens soon or in a year or two, this money will be in a savings account, giving me peace of mind that I can get through it alright. While I’m not asking for explicit donations at this time, there may be a need for it later. Your support helps me turn bad luck into something that won’t tear my life apart a second time. Every contribution, no matter the size, means the world to me. Thank you for being part of my journey to recovery.
