Hi there!

My name is Toby, and I’m a transgender special education teacher who relocated to the North East from Florida in search of a place where I can truly express my authentic self. Therefore, I’ve made the decision to undergo top surgery as part of my gender-affirming care, and I’m excited to finally take this step toward living more comfortably in my body. I have a surgery date scheduled for the end of this June, all things permitting!

As a dedicated educator, I’m passionate about helping my students feel seen, supported, and empowered. So much so, that I even left the Sunshine State over transphobic laws that barred trans people from teaching in the state! But in order to heal and recover after surgery, I’ll need to take time off during the summer, which means I’m seeking financial assistance to cover the costs associated with my surgery and time off from work.

This surgery is not just about physical change; it’s about my well-being, my mental health, and my ability to show up as the best version of myself—both in and out of the classroom.
