Hello
My name is Toby Lynne Lefkowitz. I am a pharmacist and 65 years old. I had to treat myself for COVID because I have common variable immune deficiency (CVID), which means in my case, I was born with a very weak immune system. I get it replaced weekly by infusions or subcutaneous injections into my thighs and upper arms. I also have myasthenia gravis (MG), stiff person syndrome (SPS), and a host of other health conditions.
I entered the hospital on Dec 7, 2023, to be treated for an enlarged heart with fluid around my heart and for a bleeding condition called Wolfington's disease. A family member thought she should help me, and I ended up in various hospitals and nursing homes. In April 2024, I left and came home, only to find out my house was robbed. My house was in disarray, with unbelievable trash everywhere, diapers with feces, HIV drugs, and psych drugs all over my house. The local police did nothing.
I was in the process of cleaning it up and stood up, tore my hamstring, and had a significant hematoma. I wanted to be taken to my orthopedic doctor in Philadelphia, but the police and EMS would not take me there. I ended up at a big hospital in Chester County, and they waited too long to do anything about my leg. They finally sent me to a different hospital, and I had surgery. I have not been able to walk since then, and my relatives decided to send me again to various nursing homes and hospitals. Along the way, my heart was not functioning correctly, so my heart had to be stopped and restarted.
I finally came home on Christmas Eve 2024 from one of the most horrible nursing homes!! I had to hire a caregiver out of pocket, buy various hospital beds, a wheelchair (manual and now electric). I also pay out of pocket for my ambulance rides, which can run $8000 a week. I am going through my retirement funds and could use help. I have a long way to go, still numerous tests to schedule yet and doctors to see. I have wounds that are healing, diabetes because it's connected to stiff person syndrome, and I still don't know if I will get my leg operational yet. Now I have tumors on my thyroid, my mammogram came out bad, and I need another mammogram. The list of tests I have to schedule to have my leg operated on is numerous. I am doing everything myself with no family support. I take 20 medicines a day, and insurance is not covering most things, even though I have good insurance.
Please help me.
