Dear contributors
We are formally closing the GoFund campaign initiated to support the repatriation of the mortal remains of Sachin and Sahil and to stand with their grieving families. With your solidarity and generosity, we have nearly achieved our target making this collective effort meaningful and effective. Your contributions are not just financial support, they are an expression of compassion that will go a long way in helping the families navigate an unimaginably difficult time. Thank you for stepping forward for caring and for proving that community support still matters when it is needed most.
Thankyou
Sunita Kalkal 01/02/2026
We are reducing the target to 160,000 as the cost is lower than we expected at the start of the incident. Thanks
Below is the message previous posted ( FYI)
We raised the target so that any remaining funds can be sent to their elderly parents, who have lost their sons and must now live with this pain for the rest of their lives. Your kindness will help them survive this unimaginable grief and know they are not alone.
The funds raised will be shared equally between both families, to help with funeral-related expenses, immediate living costs, and to support their elderly parents as they navigate life after this tragedy. The funds will be used solely for the care and support of the families.
With heavy hearts, we are raising funds after the tragic loss of Sachin and Sahil, two young men who lost their lives in a devastating river accident at John Locke Place at Gleniffer, north of Bellingen (Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia) on 25th January 2026.
They were being responsible and cautious, stepping only into shallow water. In an unforeseeable moment, a strong current surged and swept them away. What should have been an innocent moment turned into an unthinkable tragedy.
Sahil leaves behind his 7-month pregnant wife. Fathers of both boys are suffering from critical medical conditions and unable to bear financial burden.
We humbly seek the support of our Australian and Indian community and well-wishers to help:
• Repatriate Sachin and Sahil’s bodies to India
• Cover funeral and repatriation expenses
• Support the grieving families during this heart-breaking time
Any contribution or share will mean a great deal. Thank you for standing together as a community.
