In just a short time, I may lose the only home I have and become homeless.
I am 64 years old, living alone, and facing eviction with nowhere to go. After a car accident, I suffered serious injuries to my pelvis, sternum, ribs, and a concussion. The recovery was slow and painful, but I pushed myself every day to heal. During that time, I lost my job, and since then, I have been trying to rebuild my life from nothing.
I do not have any family to turn to for help. My mobile home is the only place I have. It is where I sleep, where I keep my few belongings, and the only stability left in my life. Recently, a new company took over the park and doubled the rent. What was once manageable is now more than I can afford without income.
I have done everything I can. I have called every local organization and charity I could find, explained my situation, and asked for help, but no one has been able to assist me. I have been walking miles each day, going from place to place looking for work, doing everything I can to avoid losing my home, but I am running out of time.
If I cannot pay my rent, I will lose my home and have nowhere to go.
I am asking for help to cover my rent so I can stay housed and have a chance to keep searching for work. This is not a long-term ask. I just need enough help to get through this moment and avoid becoming homeless.
Any amount, no matter how small, would mean more to me than I can put into words. It would help keep a roof over my head and give me a chance to keep going. If you are not able to donate, sharing this could help me reach someone who can.
I never thought I would be in a position to ask for help like this, but right now, it is the only thing standing between me and losing everything.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any kindness you can offer.
