Support to Pay Off Hersa's Medical Bills

Hello all!

As her daughters, Imani and Kiyah, we would like to thank you for visiting this page and considering giving your support on behalf of our wonderful mother - Hersa Burke! She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August 2022 and we as a family set forth to fight against this evil disease. She began chemotherapy in September 2022 and radiation in January 2023. The final component of her treatment plan was a Whipple surgery, which was successfully completed in July 2023. She was able to work (diligently, might we add) until it was time for surgery. During her surgical recovery, she received partial pay through disability leave.

The cancer returned aggressively in November 2023 and she was hospitalized twice for extensive amounts each time. Unfortunately, by the time of her death, she had exhausted all paid leave options. We are extremely grateful for her medical insurance coverage. Through the course of her 17-month battle against pancreatic cancer, over a half-million dollars worth of medical treatment was provided. Her insurance has covered all but about $11,000.

We are incredibly grateful for the love, prayers, and support we have received in our time of need. We greatly appreciate any, and all, gifts that you can provide as we continue to grieve and process this transition to a new normal without Mommy in our lives.
