DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP
Hello, my name is Towanda. I have unfortunately become in need of help. I became unemployed this past April because of my battle with severe neuropathy and now a diagnosis of Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) on top of it. Until now, I have been able to maintain rent and small bills from savings and help from family and friends who are now feeling the results of the economy themselves. I have tried everything, including rental assistance agencies, but federal funding has been cut for all, and no assistance is currently available. I’m currently in the process of approval for SSDI benefits; however, with the government shutdown, my case has slowed down. Hopefully, I will be hearing from my disability attorney very soon. Thankfully, the attorney that was recommended accepts payment once my case is settled and current and arrearages are received. With the government potentially opening back up, I’m praying for a swift start of my benefits.
I have fallen behind on my rent, currently coming up on 3 months,
and really, truly need your help. I don’t know what else to do. I have applied for jobs that I know, with my condition, I probably, if offered, won’t be able to work long term. On December 11th, I’m scheduled to have an ultrasound to see if I will have to have surgery to have stents inserted for blood circulation, and I am terrified of these results. My landlord has been trying to work with me, but they are getting impatient. I have been advised that eviction is fast approaching. I don’t have anywhere to go; all of my family and friends are trying to figure out their own financial situations. When I last spoke with SSDI and my attorney, they were making progress with my case, and then the shutdown happened. If you can, please, please help me keep my apartment. I live alone and do my best to do for myself. I would and will be so very, very grateful. I know there are a lot of scammers out there; I have had a few try to scam me. I promise you I am not a scam, just a very proud 60-year-old woman and grandmother trying to get some help. One of my favorite times of the year is coming up, and I have no kind of holiday joy in me. Well, I truly thank you, and please enjoy your holiday season, you and yours.
