Hello friends and family as well as those of you who may see this but don't know me. My name is Brian Marvie, I am a basketball coach and trainer in the city of Worcester, MA. I am starting this fundraiser in order to help some of the inner city youth steal back some on court time, after COVID-19 robbed them of a basketball season. Worcester was forced to cancel their Fall sports season due to the high infection rates in the city. I have been training and coaching kids in the city for the past 6 years so my connection to this years seniors and other players is very strong, considering that I seen them grow up since their 8th/9th grade year.
I wanted to do something, had do something to help them steal back the time stolen due to the virus
So I decided to put together an AAU program, to help the underclassman students get back on the court and help some of the seniors finish of their high school sports career as they prepare for the next level. Sports are a major part in these kids lives without it some are lost, if you get me! I can't let that happen! The cost for AAU basketball can start to get expensive when you talk about tournament fees, uniforms, transportation, practice time etc. Creating an obstacle too big, forcing a lot of inner city kids to not participate in travel basketball, missing out on good opportunities.
I am asking for help as I am looking to raise $3000 for this upcoming spring AAU season. With that I will be able to put two teams in for the AAU spring season. One 11th/12th grade team as well as one 9th/10 grade team. The $3000 will cover all tournament fees for the kids to play about 15 - 17 games.
My main goal is to try and eliminate the cost if possible for the kids to play or at the very least lower it so its affordable and reasonable for the kids and their families. If we are able to get to our goal of 3k I will be able to cut the cost drastically for both teams.
Transportation to the games will be a group effort by coaches and parents all in efforts to keep the cost down.
So if there is anything you can give to help it would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
If need be I can break down our tournament fees, Uniforms expense.
One of my slogans I like to say " For The Youth Dem"
