Hi, my name is Melissa, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my father, David Allaby.

For the past eight years, my dad has been courageously battling two different types of cancer. Most recently, he’s facing a recurrence of lymphoma—specifically bone marrow lymphoma, a serious form of cancer that affects the white blood cells produced in the bone marrow.

To fight this, he will need to undergo a minimum of six rounds of intensive chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the treatments aren’t available in his hometown of Timmins, He’ll need to travel to Sudbury every three weeks, with each chemo session lasting at least six hours. Due to the risk of side effects, he must stay overnight in Sudbury after each treatment—an added cost that is not covered by any programs.

At 71 years old, my dad relies solely on CPP, which barely covers his basic living expenses, let alone the travel, accommodations, and meals needed to access life-saving treatment.

We know this will be a long journey. Cancer treatment is unpredictable—delays and complications can happen—and we want to ensure my dad can focus on healing without the constant stress of financial strain.

I’m setting up this GoFundMe to help ease the burden for him. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward his travel costs, accommodations, and other expenses related to his care.
