Wow everyone, this is an amazing show of support! THANK YOU
This fund is where friends can come together and lend support where it is really needed. ❤️ Let’s help Cori get though the next days, weeks, and possibly years ahead without vision. Cori gives back to her community without expectation of anything in return. This is a great time to give back and rally around her and the kids.

Here’s the story- Over the past 5 months, Cori's life has been turned upside down. At the end of September 2021 she tragically lost Scott her husband and the father of her 3 beautiful children (Robbie 12, Georgia 10, and Maggie 8).
Cori remained strong in the eyes of her kids while navigating her immense grief. Cori has used her humour to carry her through the darkest of days and found strength getting active and learning to RUN! This new found activity brought her positive momentum and a way to take care of her mental health. Everyone deals with stress and tragedy differently and Cori's way is to keep busy, do whatever needs to be done and push herself through each day. She has been super-human!
Mid December 2021, Cori became ill and over the course of a few days she lost her eyesight! Vision in both eyes- GONE.
She was transferred to Kelowna General where she endured tests, procedures, possible diagnosis - all during Christmas. She had multiple blood tests, an MRI on her brain, an ultrasound of her organs and still no understanding of why she lost her vision? After seeing an Ophthalmologist, a plan was put in place for Cori to undergo a blood Plasma exchange treatment. This created many obstacles for Cori to manage , the Plasma exchange treatment took place in the ICU, every other day for 10 treatments. Cori had to organize rides back and forth from her home in Coldstream (Vernon) while making sure her children were cared for by her mother. Currently Cori has regained a slight amount of vision in her right eye and her left eye remains inactive. She is able to see outlines of people, some colors, and able to get around on her own two feet!
Cori gives much to others. She worked at Coldstream Elementary for many years where she developed many relationships. This past September branching out and accepted a new position at Vernon Secondary, stretching her skills to a new level. She chooses to make an impact wherever she goes.
During the summertime Cori and her family spend 2months down at Black Mountain Ranch making amazing things happen!! Cori is the valued President of the BMR youth committee as well a volunteer with BMR Riding Club and other activities.
If you have enjoyed BMR events such as :
Family dances, Easter floor hockey and bingo, Kick off to summer party, Summer ice cream nights, kids foam party, the Amazing race, the Ranch has talent, Halloween Haunted house, Playday and the list goes on and on, know that Cori and her family have invested many many hours to make these events a great success and enjoyable for everyone!. She will no doubt continue to do so - sight or not
It won’t be a surprise to hear that Cori wants to do everything on her own, but she can recognize that this may not be possible.
Work is not possible at this time. Simple tasks around home bring frustration- meals/school routine/caring for the kids/not being able to drive to name a few. Some smarthome solutions, a housecleaner, gas money to others that are willing to drive her and the kids around, and some peace of mind will all help. She is going to have to be resourceful moving forward and we know she will likely meet the challenges with humour and determination ❤️………..and a tracker on Maggie.
