Support to buy Dodge Wheelchair Van

12 years ago, I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl, Leah, who was diagnosed with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC). AMC is a rare congenital neuromuscular disorder characterized by limited or absent movement around the body’s joints (contractures). At first, I had a mix of emotions between happiness and shock because I didn’t know what this meant, so I spent hours and hours researching and to this day, I still do.
Shortly after Leah’s birth, we were referred to the CHUM Ste-Justine Hospital, where we had our first appointment at the Orthopedic Clinic. Leah has been followed by Dr. Grimard who performed 3 surgeries on her so far, and she will have a couple more surgeries next year in order to help her everyday life. She uses a walker at school and a heavy folding wheelchair for the school bus and whenever we do groceries, shopping and activities. In September 2018, Leah got a new custom made wheelchair that will help her do her favourite sports and activities, like boccia and dancing. But the problem is we can’t have my current car adapted to her wheelchair, which means we will have to purchase a van. Having a wheelchair accessible van would give our family the freedom to safely transport Leah to and from her favourite activities and her upcoming doctor’s appointments.
We are asking our family, friends, acquaintances and friends of our friends to help us collect as much money as we can to pay a portion of the total price of the Dodge Wheelchair Van. We would like to reach the amount of $25,000. Your generous support and love is appreciated beyond words. Thank you.
