Support TNR Efforts for TRACEN Petaluma Cats

Donation protected
At USCG TRACEN Petaluma, the number of stray and feral cats is growing out of control. Many are born on-site—unspayed, unwanted, and vulnerable. Others have been left behind by families who’ve moved away. Without intervention, the population continues to multiply: one unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce up to 60 kittens in just 2 years, and over 400 in 7 years.

For nearly 35 years, two dedicated women from the Consolidated Club on base worked tirelessly to manage the cat population through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and daily care. Since their retirement, however, no consistent efforts have been in place—and the number of cats continues to grow, multiplying rapidly.

We are currently aware of:
  • 20+ unaltered adult cats
  • 15 kittens
  • 2 pregnant females

What Your Donation Will Support

Thanks to the incredible support of Forgotten Felines of Santa Rosa, each cat we trap receives full veterinary care, including:

✅ Spay or neuter surgery
✅ Basic wellness check
✅ Core vaccinations
✅ Microchipping
✅ Parasite control (for fleas, tapeworms, and ear mites, as deemed necessary)
✅ Ear tipping (for identifying spayed/neutered feral cats)

These services are generously being provided at no cost to us, due to the urgent need on base. However, Forgotten Felines typically requests a $50 per cat fee, and we would love to provide them with a generous contribution to help offset their costs and support their ongoing work in our community and throughout Sonoma County.

Your donation will also help us cover:

  • Construction of feeding stations around the base to ensure consistent, safe care
  • Daily food for multiple community cat colonies living on base

Every Dollar Helps!
Any amount—even just $1—directly supports the care, food, transportation, and long-term well-being of these cats. We would be incredibly grateful for your support.

Please consider sharing this fundraiser to help us spread the word. And above all, PLEASE spay and neuter your pets, and help educate others about its importance. We are the voice for these animals, and together, we can save so many lives.

Thank you for helping us protect and care for the cats of TRACEN Petaluma — one paw at a time.

What is TNR, and Why Does It Matter?

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a proven, humane method for managing feral cat populations:
Trap: Cats are safely and humanely trapped
Neuter/Spay: They are sterilized, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped
Return: Once recovered, they’re returned to their original outdoor homes

TNR prevents future litters, reduces fighting and illness, and helps cats live healthier lives. Over time, it leads to smaller, healthier, and more stable colonies.
