**WE HAVE TRANSFERRED TJ’S CARE TO RESCUE ATX DOGS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT HIS JOURNEY, PLEASE DONATE AT RESCUEATXDOGS.ORG.**
TJ is a precious 3 year old rescue pit mix who has won the hearts of MANY. He is a couch potato at heart with a calm, velcro disposition. He is genuinely one of the easiest and well behaved dogs that I have come across during my time in animal welfare. He was originally brought to Austin Animal Center as a stray just before Christmas in December of 2023. He was extremely emaciated but his bright spirit showed through and he was one of the happiest little guys despite his circumstances. TJ befriended a shelter worker named Tony during his time at AAC who lovingly named him TJ- short for Tony Junior. TJ came to foster with me from Jan-March 2024, gained weight and healed, and was adopted by that same shelter worker that March.
Two weeks ago, an otherwise very healthy TJ unexpectedly started to lose function in his front two limbs. Unfortunately his owner did not have the means to cover his medical treatment, so he surrendered him back to AAC. He was unable to walk unassisted and needs around the clock supervision to monitor his condition, so he was then transferred to APA! where he remains in their care.
We are raising funds for diagnostics because we believe that he is experiencing neurological complications. He has been on antibiotics (clindamycin), a steroid, has received radiographs, a heartworm test, and a blood test, but these tests have not shown us a cause for his loss of mobility. He is declining, and we need to pursue other tests to find the root of his condition, so he has an MRI and spinal tap scheduled for 7/30. We are relying on donations to get TJ the healthcare he deserves! Our hope is to eventually return a healthy TJ back to his owner, Tony.
Thank you very much for your lifesaving contribution to TJ’s care. We are hoping to see improvement soon and would love to see him fully recover back to his sweet, healthy self!
