September/October was extremely difficult for my family and me as my oldest son was hospitalized and taken into emergency brain surgery after the loss of feeling on the left side of his body prompted us to rush him into the ER. Shortly before that surgery, he began having seizures and was admitted into the ICU while the doctors performed tests to try and find the cause of the loss of feeling and seizures. After many tests, they found that he had an infection on his brain and recommended emergency surgery as the best way to save his life and hopefully return him to his baseline functions. He would remain in the ICU for 13 days, having multiple seizures, including one that lasted for 2 hours.
We were warned about the possible issues of brain surgery, but we were also told about what would happen if he didn't have the surgery and given hope about how quickly he could recover. We are blessed as he was initially diagnosed with meningitis, and we were told that he would need extensive inpatient rehab to learn to walk again. After more tests and culture analysis, the doctors discovered that it was caused by sinusitis that had moved to his brain. For several more weeks, we dealt with seizures, central lines, and surgeries that kept my wife and me working limited hours or, in some instances, not at all.
After being discharged, TJ received medicines and in-home nursing and PT visits to help aid in his recovery. Today, he is quickly getting back to being the bright young child that we know and love. However, we have started to receive the medical bills, and between it and working limited time while trying to nurse him back to health, we are struggling to keep it all together. As a result we are asking for help to get on top of the hospital debt as well as the bills that have piled up on us. Anything helps and we want to Thank you in advance
