Hi everyone,
My name is Morgan Gould. I’m a 25-year-old teaching assistant and graduate student, and I’m asking for help for my 4-year-old cat, Tito.
I found Tito in the summer of 2021 when he was about six months old. He was the sweetest little boy with the cutest mustache, and from the very beginning, he was family. I spent every dime I had saved throughout college to make sure he had everything he needed, including food, supplies, and his early medical care.
Tito has been by my side through every major chapter of my life. He was there through college, moving into my first apartment, meeting and moving in with my boyfriend, and navigating serious family health struggles. He has been there for my highest highs and my lowest lows, a constant reminder that I am never alone. Tito is my best friend in this world, and I would give up everything to make sure I get to see him grow old.
Recently, Tito began showing sudden and frightening symptoms. He became lethargic and started gagging and regurgitating repeatedly. Even though he was still eating, drinking, and sleeping next to me, I knew something was wrong. We brought him to our trusted vet, where his bloodwork and physical exam came back normal, and he was prescribed anti-nausea medication.
When his symptoms worsened at home, we rushed him to the emergency vet. X-rays showed no visible foreign object, but they suspected his throat may have been irritated from trying to expel something. He was sent home with antacids, but his condition did not improve.
The next day, we returned to our regular vet. Tito was given fluids and more medication, but despite everyone’s best efforts, he continues to regurgitate frequently and his solid stool has turned into diarrhea.
So far, we have paid $1,500 out of pocket. We have been given an estimate of $1,300 for further radiographing, with the possibility of costs rising to over $3,000 if surgery or additional testing becomes necessary. I will give every penny I have to save my sweet boy, but I would be lying if I did not admit that these bills have placed a significant financial strain on us.
If you are able to help in any way, whether through donations, sharing our story, or simply keeping Tito in your thoughts, it would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for caring about my best friend.
With gratitude,
Morgan & Tito
