Hi everyone,
This is our mum, Tiny — and despite her name, she’s anything but small.
She’s fun-loving, unapologetically herself, fiercely independent, the life of every party, and a true fighter. Anyone who knows her knows she fills every room with laughter, stories, and personality.
Our mum moved from Botswana to Ireland when she was 26 and has built her life in Cork ever since. Recently, after being told her cancer treatment had stopped and that she may only have months left, she made the decision to return home to Botswana to spend time with family.
While there, her health suddenly became very serious. Her lung collapsed and she developed viral pneumonia, and she spent just under a week in hospital.
But during that time something unexpected happened.
She met two incredible doctors — one of whom trained under the head of her oncology team — and they strongly disagreed with the prognosis she had been given. They believe there are still options that could help improve her quality of life and potentially give her more time with us.
For our family, this has given us something we didn’t think we had anymore: hope.
The difficulty is that this treatment is through a private clinic, and the costs are something we simply cannot manage alone. Over the coming months there will also be medical, care, and living costs while she receives treatment in Botswana.
We are setting up this fundraiser to help give our mum the chance to access this care and to support her through the next stage of her fight.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world to our family. And if you’re not in a position to donate, simply sharing this page would help more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for supporting our mum — our Tiny — in any way you can ❤️
