Hello, my name is Tina Davis. I am 57 years old, living with diabetes, and recently became an amputee losing my left leg and the toes on my right foot. For 11 years, I worked as a custodian for the San Francisco Unified School District, and before that, I spent 8 years as a preschool teacher at Whitney Young Child Care Center. I have always enjoyed helping others and being part of my community.
In February 2024, my life changed dramatically when I had to undergo amputation. My right foot is taking much longer to heal than I anticipated. I hoped my workplace could find a modified assignment for me, but unfortunately, that was not possible. I have never been in a predicament like this I feel so useless. Moreover this forced me to take early retirement and state disability. Because I am under age, I do not receive the full amount of my retirement, I am very grateful for what I do get, yet unfortunately state disability retirement is not enough to cover all my financial obligations. I have also fallen behind on my Mortgage, HOA and all my my other bills, I really don't want the HOA to put a lien on my property . This situation has created a real hardship, and has brought me much stress. I am worried about falling further behind, it can be very difficult to catch up.
I am not the best at anything, but I am always willing to learn and do whatever I can to help others as I help myself. Whatever you can help with would be graciously appreciated, and may the heavens shine on you. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for considering a contribution.
