Hi everyone, my name is Tina. Nearly 23 years ago, I survived a maternal health crisis and was diagnosed with postpartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM), a life-threatening form of pregnancy-induced heart failure. In 2012, I received a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), which has helped sustain my life for over 13 years.
Recently, a deeply personal and now-viral moment was captured when I was being transported to the hospital by ambulance. I answered a call from my utility company, thinking it was one of my doctors. That moment, and the events that followed, are etched in my memory forever.
But this isn’t just about me.
There are many others—right here in our community—who rely on electricity to stay alive. That’s why I’ve spent years advocating for fairer, life-affirming policies like Georgia’s HB641, which seeks to protect medically vulnerable utility customers.
This GoFundMe is not just to support me—it’s an extension of that advocacy.
If we exceed our fundraising goal, the remaining funds will launch a small but powerful pilot program: providing a $100 monthly utility credit during the winter months of 2025 for at least 10 Griffin Power customers who depend on electricity for life-sustaining care. With federal program cuts looming, now is the time for communities to rise and support one another.
