Thank you to everyone for taking the time to read our request for help for our dear friend of 40+ years, Christina Mendoza Juarez.

After 6 long years and 8 months, Tina has been blessed enough to get the call to have a life saving procedure. Tina has been through a difficult journey that began on 02/05/19 when she got sick and was rushed to the hospital. After running lots of tests, her life changed. Tina was diagnosed with stage four kidney failure. The very next day, she had surgery and started on Dialysis which she has been on ever since. It wasn’t just a new way of life for her, but also for her entire family. Tina did everything the doctors told her to do. She kept a positive attitude, which reminds all of us, her family and friends, that no matter what path life takes you on, you must stay strong and never give up. With some ups and downs this continued for the next 4 years.

There have been several complications, from doctor appointments, to new medications, to interviews, to trips to visit transplant facilities, to filling out tons and tons of paperwork. FINALLY, on Wednesday, 11/12/25 our friend group got the text we had all been praying for. Tina started the text with, “Good morning ladies! I got the call!!!!” Tina, her sister Diane and Daughter Sophia, were already on the road to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ, she was on her way to receive her new kidney. We were all elated. Tina received her new kidney on Wednesday, 11/12/25. The doctors, nurses and everyone at the Mayo Clinic have been incredible and are really taking care of her.

Tina will be staying near the transplant facility in Arizona for the next 4-8 weeks for all the follow up appointments. She has family that will be taking leaves of absence from work and uprooting their lives to stay with her while she is healing.

As she begins this next chapter towards recovery, her family is facing growing expenses that come with her transplant journey—including travel, lodging near the hospital, meals, gas, medications, and lost work time. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs are overwhelming.

Tina is a loving mother of 2 (Sophia and Ivan). She is a wonderful sister, aunt, and an amazing friend. She is a HUGE Dodger fan and loves spending time with friends and family. We are reaching out to ask everyone we know to help ease these financial burdens so Tina can focus on healing.
