Our mother, Shirley Wright, 86, went to heaven on Wednesday, April 9, in Colorado Springs. We were blessed to be holding her hand when she met Jesus. Though incredibly hard, we are thankful for her relationship with the Lord and that she is in no more pain. Mom truly loved to help others and nothing would bring her greater joy than for her to bring relief to her best friend's daughter, Tina Hilger, 51, of Hutchinson, Kansas, fighting android cystic carcinoma- a rare glandular cancer.
Tina went to the dentist December 2024 only to find two specialists later that she had cancer. In February 2025, Tina had surgery at The University of Kansas Medical Center to rebuild her mouth using parts of her shoulder, and removing 26 lymph nodes. She now travels back and forth to Kansas City from Hutchinson for radiation and chemotherapy. Tina is a proud wife, mother of three and new grandmother.
Mom would truly be honored to help Tina and her husband with her medical bills and travel expenses.
Notably, Tina and Mom share the same birthday of September 19.
